  Hardware Engineer

Qualification
A degree or certificate in computer science or a related field.
Previous experience in customer support, computer operations, hardware support or another related area.
Motivated to advance in the profession.
Job skills and Responsibilities
Fundamental understanding of an operating system and associated hardware.
 
Familiar with an operating system and its commands/utilities at a user level, can edit files, issue commands, find users home directories, navigate through the file system, and use I/O redirection.
 
Familiarity with networked/distributed computing environment concepts
Familiarity with some basic Security and auditing tools like SeOS, ISS.
Fundamental understanding of SLA's and procedures followed for logging calls with third party vendors.

Performs routine tasks to cover activities like:
 
Problem analysis
Gathering Metric and generation of MIS reports related to outages, system performance (resource utilization) etc.
Ensuring all changes are being done with the defined change management process including proper impact analysis.
Manage Hardware inventory and ensuring appropriate asset tracking mechanism.
Coordination of facilities like UPS, electrical, premises.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of explaining simple procedures in writing or verbally.
